Amid mercurial Northeast Ohio weather, Ashtabula County Choral Music Society (ACCMS) is forging ahead with “Music is Blooming in Ashtabula County” Spring Weekend celebration and concert on April 25th and 26th. The Scholarship Recognition and Fundraising Gala begins Saturday at 5pm with the Ashtabula Arts Center “Heartstrings” String Ensemble performing while guests enjoy appetizers, an Open Bar, and perusing the Silent Auction Items. Those items include theater and sporting event tickets, artwork, fine jewelry, dining and recreational experiences, and more. The deadline for donations is April 8th. All contributors will be recognized in the event program. Donations support the ACCMS operational expenses and Scholarship fund.

Following a scrumptious dinner catered by J&J Catering, the recipient(s) of the Kathleen Riley Milford Scholarship will be recognized and acknowledged for their vocal talents. Twelve Ashtabula County students completed the application process, and the level of talent and experience of these students is impressive, notes a reviewer. Tickets for this event are available through April 11th from ACCMS singers, Board Members, and on the ACCMS website, ashcochoralmusicsociety.org.

On Sunday, April 26th, at 4 pm. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ashtabula the ACCMS Chorale will perform their Spring Concert, featuring choral arrangements of familiar and new Americana music, including “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, “Festival of Freedom”, a piece from John Rutters’ “Festival of Freedom” (and more!). Admission is free; contributions are appreciated.

Since 1989, the ACCMS mission has provided quality performances of significant choral works for Ashtabula audiences, while providing singers with educational and musical experiences. More information is available on the website and the ACCMS Facebook page.
